Easter Bunny (a la Steel Magnolias)

We had such a nice "first" Easter with the boys.  I made cookies to put in their plastic eggs and we hide them all around the house.  We woke the boys up by hopping into their room, like rabbits, singing "Here come Peter Cotton Tail" and dragged them out of bed so they could search for eggs.  They were REALLY excited to be on a scavenger hunt and they were EVEN MORE excited when they realized their was food in their eggs.  Brady especially kept squealing and giggling when he found and egg with something in it.  After the hunt was over, we packed up and headed to my Aunt and Uncle's house for a great brunch with family.  They ransacked their house, completely exhaust Chris and I and had a blast overall!  What a wonderful day!

Kiss Me I'm Cute

We had fun celebrating St. Patrick's day by eating corned beef and cabbage on our porch and playing the back yard, all after a trip to IKEA.  (hummm, something seems not quite proper about that last part). There were no kegs and eggs and no green food, but it was still a very very nice day!

Month 15: Life is a beach

There is no stopping these guys.  They are growing and changing so fast and moving in every (all be it, different) direction .  Even though it is tiring and frustrating at times, it is still so much fun.  Here are the major highlights for month 15.

Every month or so we like to take the dogs and go over the Half Moon Bay (HMB, which we also say stands for Happy Man Babies).  The beach is dog friendly and the town is low key. They have a couple of restaurants we like to visit so we spend some time tiring the animals out, eat, and then drive the 40 minutes home with tired babies and tired animals.  This particular trip was memorable because we decided to let the man babies play in the sand.  Unfortunately, we left the sand toys in the car and did not turn back to get them once we were on the beach.  Seems slightly remincent of the pumpkins we left on the side of the road and may just be how we roll when we adventure.

 Brady:

New Skills: Walking backwards and taking side steps (it took me a minute to realize that he was practicing this one day.  He kind of looks like a 100 year old woman doing the electric slide)  He is also running, stomping his feet, blowing/throwing kisses, eating (presently, he is the better eater), making animal sounds, following commands like "go pick out a book" or "go get your blocks".

Teeth: 4!  After what feels like the world longest descent, Brady now has two top teeth.  Good grief that was long and painful.  I am not looking forward to the remaining eruptions.

Words and phrases: The current favorites are All done, Dada, I pooped (when asked who pooped), signs for milk, wheels on the bus, itsy bitsy, and open shut them (Brady likes to request songs).

Funny memories: Brady will start giggle and run in the opposite direction if he knows you are coming to pick him up for a diaper change or any other mundane task.  He thinks this is hysterical, and even after the 1,000th time, and it kind of is.  When he sees random socks in the house (of which there are a lots) he likes to lift his foot and grunt for you to put them on his feet.  He LOVES to laugh and finds things, even the simplest things, funny (just like his mom!).  If I say his name in a stern voice because he is doing something he should not be, he looks at me and says "Hi" very sweetly and repeatedly to try and make sure I am still happy with him.  He likes to sit with him mom while he is trying to wake up, especially after his nap.  He likes to give me good night kisses when I say it is time for bed.  Sometimes if I get him in the middle of the night, I hear him sigh a contented sigh when he knows it is me.  Can you tell I am enjoying this mommy phase?  Brady loves to put things (shirts, towels, pants, etc) over his head and try and walk around.  He does not even seems to care if he bumps into furniture, he just likes the laugh it gets out of Chris, Brody and me.

Brody:

New Skills:  Walking backwards and taking side steps, running, stomping feet, animal sounds, pushing seemingly heavy objects (this kid is STRONG!), pushing his seat belt clip together, opening the childproof cabinets (help!!),

Teeth: 7, 4 on top, the on bottom.

Words and phrases:    ALL done, Mom (sounds like mum), da DA, signs for food, milk, and all the hand motions to the typical songs, but he does not request them like DJ Brady. Brody grunts and cries very clearly for everything else!

Funny memories:  Brody does so many quirky, funny things.  To start, when you go to get him in the morning, he starts by telling you he threw his bunnies over the rail, shows you where they are and basically acts like he was in the middle of a conversation with you, forgetting that the whole night has gone by since you last saw him.  If I ask him if he wants "Mama's help" he will immediately through his hand in my general direction so I can help him, but he does so without stopping or changing his agenda.  He likes to walk about with his shirt pulled up so he can show his belly and push on his bellybutton.  If I am changing Brady on the floor, Brody will come over and poke his finger into Brady's bellybutton.  When asked where his nose is, Brody will push his finger up his nose instead of placing it on his nose.    If you say "where's Brody", Brody covers his ears while Brady covers his eyes.  It is kind of like a hear no evil, see no evil routine that they thought up for themselves.

These guys are keeping me on my toes and making me wish I had a third eye and another set of hands.  I'll settle for baby leashes.  Ok, not yet, but I can see the reason for their invention!

A walk in the woods:Month14

I'm not going to lie.  Our trip to Muir Woods was supposed to be its own post.  I was going to regale you with tales of us packing up the kids and the dogs for an all day outing.  I was going to recount- in vivid detail -how the day went.  But, I waited too long, and now I can't remember the special details.  Here is what I do remember:

There were trees, giant trees!  And the boys, Brady especially, loved them!

There were attempts at posed pictures.  However, nowadays, this is what it is like trying to get pictures with walking babies.  They worm out of your arms and when they are finally still, I have to hold on for dear life!
There were independent steps taken in new territory.  It was very exciting.

And there was a hike.  It was epic(ish).  I would love to say that we hiked 12 miles, covered massive amounts of  territory, but really we hiked about 3 miles and it probably took 2.5 hours.  The boys squawked/cried the whole way, unless there were passersby for them to say hi to.  They did not like the carriers we brought because no one wanted to be on our backs.  Chris and I transferred babies between the two of us no less that 10 times to try and make them happy.  When we finally made it to the top, we ate snacks and even though the boys were passed their nap time, they rallied.   It was wonderful(ish)!

Now for the rest of the month: in photo bomb form.

There was snuggling:

(btw- this is not "just took a bath" hair, this is "just smashed avocado" in my hair. Looks the same, but I assure you, the results are not.

(Also, to come clean, these snuggles usually ends in crying because one bites or hits the other, but it is oh so cute while it lasts!)

There was lots of animal snuggling too (with the ginger animals at least):

There was lots of tongue waggling:

There was outdoor park play:

Someone is always eating something!

There was awkward toddling:

There was a new table and chairs (and some kind of meeting):

There was crazy hair and laughs:

And it was a great month!
